Entry requirements
Requirements depend on your nationality, your departure country and any countries you transit through. Make sure your passport is valid and check the rules that apply to you before buying your tickets.
If you transit through the United States, specific requirements may apply. Check the official information from Tahiti Tourisme and the authorities of the countries on your itinerary.
Weather and when to visit
From November to April, the weather is generally warmer and more humid, with temperatures often between 25 and 35°C (77–95°F).
From May to October, conditions are usually cooler and drier, at around 21 to 27°C (70–81°F). In the tropics, showers are possible throughout the year.
Currency and payments
The local currency is the Pacific franc (XPF or CFP). It has a fixed exchange rate against the euro: €1 = XPF 119.33.
Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted in Tahiti and Moorea. However, carry some cash for small shops, markets and local providers. Euro notes and coins are not used for everyday payments.
Getting around the islands
A car is the most practical way to explore Tahiti and Moorea independently. Attractions, beaches, shops and activities are spread along the coastal roads, and public transport does not meet every travel need.

Travelling between Tahiti and Moorea
Ferries connect Papeete and Moorea in around 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the vessel and conditions. Several crossings operate each day.
Check the latest timetables with the ferry companies. If you plan to take a vehicle, book well in advance, especially for weekends and holidays.
What should you pack?
Bring lightweight clothes, sun protection chosen with marine life in mind, mosquito repellent, a reusable water bottle and a light waterproof jacket.
For trails and valleys, pack suitable closed-toe footwear. Do not walk on coral, and always follow your operator's instructions during water activities.
From your first booking to your first evening
Choose your island base
Start with your plans: relaxing by the lagoon, travelling with a group or finding a convenient base for work. Choose your home around your activities, its location and how much time you want to spend on the road.
If you are combining Tahiti and Moorea, coordinate your accommodation dates with your ferry crossings. Allow some time between transport connections rather than relying on a tight transfer.
Plan a smooth arrival
Let us know your arrival time and arrange your journey from the airport or ferry terminal to your home. Save the address, directions and access instructions before you leave so you can find them even without an internet connection.
An early-morning flight does not guarantee immediate access to your accommodation. Contact our team beforehand to arrange an early arrival or book the previous night if needed.
Make your first evening easy
After your journey, settle in: plan your first grocery shop or request a welcome hamper, grocery delivery or a meal for a late arrival.
A private chef, massage, flowers, transfers or baby equipment: explore our extra services and tell us what you would like before your stay. Requests are arranged according to provider availability.
